Internship - Dipartimento di Scienze Veterinarie

The practical traineeship consists of practical activities to be carried out at facilities within the Department, at the University or outside, Universities or public or private facilities that have an agreement with the Department of Veterinary Science (AFFILIATED COMPANIES), in order to complete the student’s theoretical-practical and professional training. During the practical placement, the student carries out activities under the supervision of a tutor; when these activities are carried out outside the Department, under the supervision of a non-academic tutor, the latter will be duly trained. The training of the non-academic tutor is an essential prerequisite for the conclusion of the agreement (Link).

The student may commence a work placement provided that this activity does not coincide with the holding of classes and only if the following requirements are met:

having complied with the requirements set out in the Annex – ‘List of propaedeuticities for enrolment in the traineeship’; these requirements will be verified by the Sector Contact Person by checking the ‘Certificate of enrolment with examinations’ (available on the University’s ‘Alice’ portal) which the student will present when agreeing on the location and period of the traineeship.
hold a certificate of competence for the Safety Training Course;
be in possession of the necessary medical certification to carry out the traineeship, if required.

In order to carry out their curricular traineeship, students must follow the provisions of the traineeship procedure governing the conduct of such activities; the application for the traineeship must be completed in accordance with the deadlines set out in the procedure and with the appropriate forms.

Regarding the training project:

EXTERNAL TRAINEESHIPS – Traineeships to be carried out at non-departmental facilities must be produced via the University portal. The student must enter the training project at the host facilities or, in the case of facilities that have been granted a waiver (https://www.vet.unipi.it/unita-didattica-ricevimento/), at the Department’s Didactic Unit by appointment to be requested at progetti.formativi@vet.unipi.it.

INTERNAL INTERNSHIPS – for traineeships carried out internally within the Department (laboratories and ODV) must be produced using the available forms. Specifically, for cohorts (enrolment year) up to 2017-18 using Annex 8, and for cohorts (enrolment year) up to 2018-19, using Annex 7.
