Training excellence for food professionals
The specialist in animal health, breeding and livestock production must acquire knowledge of the housing structure, nutrition, reproduction, welfare and ethology of domestic animals. He/she must also have a basic knowledge of information technology for the management of animal husbandry from both the economic and the sanitary point of view. He/she must have an in-depth knowledge of the pathology, diagnosis and prophylaxis of infectious and infectious diseases, with a special focus on notions of the prevention of health risks from diseases transmissible to humans. Finally, legal and economic notions are required.
Obiettivi Formativi Integrati
- recognition of the main infectious and parasitic diseases with particular regard to those included in the Veterinary Police Regulations and the OIE lists;
- notions of laboratory diagnosis of diseases caused by viruses, bacteria, parasites in animals;
- notions of breeding and feeding technologies for farm animals; – notions of the aetiology and pathogenesis of animal diseases with practical skills on morphopathological, macro- and microscopic pictures;
- notions of veterinary drugs, toxic substances used in agro-livestock, residues in food and the protection of food safety and the environment;
- acquisition of the knowledge necessary to perform a clinical examination and to set up an appropriate treatment protocol also on the basis of instrumental and laboratory diagnostic knowledge;
- in-depth knowledge of the medico-legal aspects of the veterinary profession in the field of animals, including the laws and regulations governing health and zoiatric care;
- in-depth study of surgical and obstetrical techniques;
- notions of the epidemiological study of animal diseases

REQUIREMENTS
- Specialist or single-cycle degree in Veterinary Medicine (class 47/S or LM-42) or five-year degree ‘old system’ in Veterinary Medicine; Applicants with a foreign degree must comply with the provisions of article 3 below. The degree requirement must be possessed on the deadline for submitting the online application to take part in the competition.
- Habilitation to practice the profession of veterinary surgeon in Italy. The qualification, if not yet held, must be obtained by the date of 26 January 2023 set for the start of teaching activities (Article 7 of this notice).
