Entry Orientation

  • Vet-Experiences

Vet-Experiences are laboratory and orientation activities organised by the Department of Veterinary Sciences as part of the OrientaVET project, the POT (Orientation and Tutoring Project) involving all Italian Veterinary Medicine (LM-42) courses. Laboratory teaching is a teaching and learning strategy through which the student appropriates knowledge in the context of its use, unlike conventional teaching, in which knowledge is offered to students in isolation from its use.

The proposed workshops are as follows:

  • Role of the veterinary surgeon in the diagnosis of infectious diseases
  • Pathway in veterinary forensic medicine
  • Vet-saga: the path to life
  • Simulation of clinical procedures in student training: can I learn without doing ‘damage’
  • Microbisiko: game and activity on antibiotic resistance
  • Theatralisation of ethical dilemmas: the human-animal relationship

  • POT PROJECT OrientaVET (year 2024)

The Department of Veterinary Sciences is running the POT OrientaVET project aimed at high school students who intend to enrol in the Veterinary Medicine Degree Course. The aim of the project is to implement orientation activities both for cognitive purposes regarding the Course and to support those who have to submit applications for the admission competition and to answer specific questions on the entrance test for the CdS in Veterinary Medicine. The project also aims to provide tutoring for students enrolled in the first years of the degree course.

Specific questions/requests can be addressed to: potmv.orientamento@vet.unipi.it

Using this address, it will also be possible to organise remote interviews on the Microsoft Teams platform. Prospective students will thus have the opportunity to interact directly with university students from the Department’s degree courses.

  • OrientaVET VIRTUAL COUNTER(year 2024)

The Degree Course in Veterinary Medicine also provides future freshmen with a ‘virtual counter’, where the Degree Course’s educational offerings will be presented. The desk will be open on Tuesdays from 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m., from 20 May until 23 July 2024, on a Microsoft Team platform.

To book, please write an e-mail to presidenza@unipi.it, no later than 12 noon on the Monday preceding the Tuesday of the orientation desk opening.
