Aboout this Course

The Master’s Degree Course in Sustainable Livestock Systems aims̀ to train people who possess in-depth knowledge of the sustainable rearing of the various animal species of livestock interest, their production and the assessment of the resulting impacts, thus fostering the ecological and technological transition taking place in contemporary animal husbandry. Graduates will be able to work professionally in all areas of livestock production systems.
Students on the master’s degree course will be taught about the various sectors of agro-zootechnical sciences, with particular reference to eco-friendly technologies for the cultivation of fodder plants and to breeding systems for monogastrics, polygastrics, small species, aquatic species and invertebrates, with a view to animal welfare and low environmental impact. The course will also address issues related to livestock biosecurity and the main methodologies for the rapid detection of animal health problems, as well as safety management, qualitỳ and the commercial and ethical valorisation of animal products in agri-food supply chains and high-value local systems.
Graduates will also have skills relating to the assessment of livestock farming impacts, the surveying and processing of environmental and socio-territorial data, the management of design aspects of plants, agro-zootechnical structures and socio-territorial systems, as well as knowledge of concepts relating to technical innovation (automation and robotics), social, product and process innovation in the agricultural-livestock field, as well as the economic-estimative disciplines indispensable for the professional activity, so as to foster close coherence between the world of production and system resources with the needs of consumers, citizens and societỳ as a whole.

Those who graduate will be able to carry out̀ freelance activities as a doctor of agriculture and forestry, subject to obtaining the relevant licence to practice. Those who have sufficient credits in appropriate groups of fields will be able, as provided for by current legislation, to participate in the admission tests for secondary teaching training courses
